Mission: Episode 0: The Redo/Coming Aboard
Location: Oahu, Hawaii

Anjohl woke up, stretched and climbed out of the bed. He dropped to the floor and pounded out 50 push ups before standing up. He pulled on a pair of light shorts over his naked body and opened the blinds to the balcony. Linata was already sitting out on the balcony reading a PADD, he feet up on a table, and a cup of coffee in her hand. She had a short robe over her pajamas and looked over at him and smiled.

He leaned over and kissed her before sitting down in the chair next to her and poured his own mug of coffee from the carafe she had sitting on the table. The already warm sun and a light breeze hit his bare chest. Sipping the warm black coffee he looked out over the Hawaiian beach that their room overlooked. Putting his hand behind his head he looked over at his wife. Leaning over he looked at her PADD. “Seriously?”

She looked up, her green eyes wide, “What?”

“Nursing roster?” Anjohl said, “We are on vacation.” He gestured with his arms to the tropical island around them. “It’s our last day in paradise and you are spending it working?”

A sly smile and a knowing look came over her, “What?” She turned off the PADD, she leaned over closer to him, put her lips, very close to his. “Is this what you want?” Standing up, she seductively walked towards the room, letting the corner of her robe slip down revealing the shoulder with a slim strap.

Standing up quickly, Anjohl smiled and made his way towards her, spinning her around, he planted his lips on hers. She pulled away and lead him inside. Once inside, she turned him around and shoved him towards the door. “Brush your teeth first.”

::Some time later::

Laying in the bed, Anjohl layed there holding his wife close, stroking her hair. “Well that was amazing. What a farewell to this place. Who knows when we will be at Earth next…”

“Oh no. Next time is Risa. They have the best massages.” Linata said with a chuckle. “You promised.” She stood up from the bed and pulled her robe over her all green form. Giving her husband a sly smile, “Plus horgons have special powers. Remember last time.”

Anjohl felt a rush go through his body, boy did he ever. “How could I forget.” He stood up and moved to his wife without getting dressed, he embraced her and gave her another kiss. “We will go back I promise.”

“Good. She said stepping away from him, “Now get dressed. We have lunch reservations at the Bolian seafood restaurant.

Rolling his eyes, “Seafood?” Anjohl hated seafood.

“We’re at the beach, of course we are getting seafood. We have got two weeks without eating it, it’s about dammed time.” she said as she pulled out her clothes, “I am going to shower. Get ready for the best food of your life!” The Orion woman winked at Anjohl and she went to the bathroom.

::Some time Later::

The plate of seafood sat in front of Anjohl. The smell was overwhelming, but he picked up a piece of what he was told was fish, along with a bunch of other items from his plate and put it in his mouth. It was tolerable. Linata was almost done with her plate.

Taking a sip of the ice cold water, Anjohl moved to take another bite. It wasn’t the worst thing he had eaten, but it wasn’t the best either. Finishing up his plate, they decided to take one last walk on the beach. The sun was high in the sky now, and it was getting warm. They decided to go lay on the beach to enjoy the weather. Anjohl removed his shirt, and the shorts he was wearing to reveal the swim briefs that he was wearing. Linata removed the sheer sundress she was wearing to show off the black bikini that contrasted her green skin.

They lay there for a while, hand in hand. They have been trying all day to not talk about the conversation that they needed to have. It hung over them, and they could feel it. “Let’s go for a swim.” Anjohl suggested as he sat up.

“That’s a great idea!” Linata said with enthusiasm. They both jumped up and ran into the water. They spent some time swimming around and just being together. They climbed out of the water some time later, and they dried off under sun.

“I could use a drink. I will go get us some.” Linata said as she rolled over and kissed her husband and moved to the bar. Anjohl sat up and watched the waves crash on the beach. His mind raced from the past year. He had overseen the refit of the Artemis and said goodbye to friends. Matt had gotten a command, which was exciting, but it wouldn’t be the same on the bridge without him. But with Kurn by his side they wouldn’t lose a fight.

He was distracted by the laugh of children as their father chased them through the shallow water. His brain flashed back to when Zardan and Quina were a lot younger and they had been able to do that. Being raised mostly on Starships, they had most of these adventures on holodecks. He smiled, but felt sad. Linata returned with two pina coladas and smiled at the children playing with their father, “Seems like so long ago.”

“Yes it does.” She replied. Taking a sip of her ice cold drink.

“Have you thought about it?” Anjohl asked her without looking at her.

“Yes.” She said. They both thought about the time before the ship was brought back to earth. Killion had marooned all non-human crewmembers on a deserted planet. Including the children. It was a horrible time for them. “I think it’s for the best. Zardan will be applying for the academy next year, and he will have to be on Earth for entrance exams anyway. Quina is happy in her school, and she said that she would gladly live with my parents.”

“I know…” The Bajoran paused, “It’s just not going to be the same…”

“I know…” his wife replied, “... but we will all be alright.” She wrapped him up in a tight hug. They sat there for some time and watched the sun set on their last day on the islands.

The next day, they would be heading back to New York to get the children settled in with their grandparents and say there goodbyes. In three days, Anjohl would be ending his leave on Earth and returning back to Mars. Linata would go back to her parents, pack up her things and get the children settled in. The kids knew that they were most likely going to stay on Earth, for now, and they were okay with that. Linata would join him on the ship the next week. It was a big step in their lives, but it was for the best. New and dangerous adventures awaited them on this new mission. A feeling of saddened excitement filled Anjohl as he watched the sun disappear beyond the horizon.
